Loading screens should leave something for the gamer to do while they're waiting. Not only does this help pass time, it keeps the gamer engaged, and subsequently lessens (even a little bit!) the pain of the wait.
In No More Heroes, the gamer can interact with the loading indicator by tapping the
button. This simple action allows for two experiences: "bouncing" the indicator, where the gamer taps the button as needed to keep it airborn (highly reminiscent of GameGenie's moonwalk cheat for Super Mario Bros.); button-mashing sends the indicator on a non-stop reel through multiple colours.
